History of the Hookah
The origin of the “Hookah” is lost in time, though some historians believe that it started around the XV century in India when glass fabrication also started as an exporting business to the conquering British states. Apparently, it is from this point and state when the “Hookah” begins to expand and spread to countries such as Iran, Pakistan and other Arabic countries where it was adopted as their own.
For other historians, curiously, most of them of Hindu origin, the “Hookah” actually started in China in the XIX century, about the time when Opium from China was smuggled to India where it was consumed through the “Hookah”.
For yet another group of historians, the “Hookah” was actually originated in Persia and then it was transported to India, where it was quickly adopted by the conquering British citizens and then transported by them to Asia, Africa and the rest of the world.
Of course, there is the set of historians that also claim that the “Hookah” has its origins in Africa and even in America, way before the time of the Spanish colonization, which arises the problem as to how was it then spread into the world, causing many eye brows raising.
So, the origin of the “Hookah” will depend on the way it is called and on the personal view of the historian. Regardless to this, the “Hookah” has slowly begun to regain popularity all over the world as each day more and more Arabic, Hindu and Asian “Hookah” using immigrants have left their places of origin and settled in other countries.
